Bomb threat forces emergency landing

An Air China flight has been forced to make an emergency landing after a passenger claimed to have a bomb.

The Daily Mail reported that the flight from Nanning to Beijing had to land at Chongqing after a woman allegedly told cabin crew that she wanted to commit suicide following her relationship breakup and had a bomb on board.

The woman allegedly said the bomb was on a timer and would explode before the plane got to Beijing.

Police, ambulances and fire engines reportedly met the Airbus A321-200 when it landed at Chongqing and security searches failed to find any suspicious devices.

According to the Daily Mail, SWAT officers boarded the plane before the passengers disembarked.

The Economic Times reported that three passengers were taken for questioning by police, while the rest were able to continue on to Beijing following a security check.
