Cory Monteith has died

Glee star Cory Monteith, 31, was found dead Saturday in his Vancouver hotel room.

A representative for the actor has released a statement, reading:

"We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss."

According to police, the Canadian-born actor went out with friends Friday night, but returned to his room alone early Saturday morning.

Hotel staff discovered his body after Monteith missed his noon checkout time.

Monteith had been dating Glee costar Lea Michelle, 26.

A representative for the actress released a short statement, reading:

"We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time."

The Canadian-born actor was very open about his long-time struggle with substance abuse and voluntarily checked himself into a rehab facility earlier this year.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday, though police say there is no suspicion of foul play.

After news of his death broke, costars and celebrities took to Twitter to express their shock and support.
Taylor Swift tweeted:

"Speechless. And for the worst reason."

Glee costar Dot-Marie Jones wrote:

"I AM BLESSED TO HAVE WORKED WITH HIM AND LOVE HIM SO MUCH! MY HEART IS WITH HID FAMILY AND OUR WHOLE GLEE FAMILY! I LOVE YOU ALL!”
