Keith Urban opens up about Nicole Kidman

Keith Urban has opened up about his marriage to Nicole Kidman.

The Long Hot Summer singer, 44, told GQ Australia that Nicole, 45, helps him stay positive during tough times.

He explained: "Negativity and doubt are always creeping into my life and having to be kept at bay.

"Thankfully, Nic is great at calling me on it, and our marriage is at the stage where she doesn't have to say anything."

He added: "I hear myself prattling on with negative crap and her loaded silence shuts me up."

Keith also spoke about being a father to his two children with Nicole, daughters Sunday Rose, 4, and Faith Margaret, 18 months.

He told the magazine: "Being a husband and a father is a horrendous responsibility, but it's a beautiful opportunity as well."

Although his wife of six years has been gaining media attention since Katie Holmes filed for divorce from her ex-husband Tom Cruise, Keith said:

"We try to keep a sense of privacy around us, while acknowledging that Nic and I both inhabit very public professions."

Despite the difficult times, Keith said he is enjoying his career as well as his work on The Voice.

He said of being a mentor on the show: "The best thing about it has been the chance for people in Australia to get to know me."
