Aussie swimming great Ian Thorpe made a return to the spotlight this week at GQ magazine's 2014 Men of the Year awards, taking out the Man of Influence title at the event held in Sydney last night.

In an interview in the magazine, the 32-year-old has finally addressed the rumours that he was in a relationship with The Voice coach Ricky Martin.

The reports were quickly shot down by both parties at the time and the Olympic gold medalist adds that there was absolutely no truth to the rumours.

"It’s not true. I’m not seeing anyone. And we weren’t even friends when that came out. I’ve spoken to him a few times and that’s it. Great guy but we’ve never met."

Speaking to Confidential at the event, he added that the pair are friends now, but that is it.

Ian also revealed his plans to move back to Australia, having spent the last few years living in Switzerland, the UK and the US.

“I am moving back to Australia in 2015 so I am really actually excited about it and there are some opportunities that I have doing things with television, commentating and that kind of thing."
