Melissa McCarthy: 'I've been every size'

Identity Thief star Melissa McCarthy, 42, said she is comfortable with her weight in a revealing interview with More magazine.

The mother of two told the magazine that her weight is no longer an issue for her, explaining:

“I've been every size in the world.

"Parts of my twenties, I was in great shape, but I didn't appreciate it.

"If I was a 6 or an 8, I thought, 'Why aren't I a 2 or a 4?'"

McCarthy says she is continually inspired by fan mail from struggling actresses who don’t fit the Hollywood mold.

She said: "The letters I really love are from young actresses who were worried they had to fit a certain look.

"They say I've opened it up. And I don't just mean plus-size girls."

Her plus-size figure recently made her the target of film critic Rex Reed.

In a scathing review of her comedy Identity Thief, Reed referred to her as ‘tractor-sized’ and ‘a hippo’.

The Mike and Molly actress responded gracefully in an interview with The New York Times, saying:

"I felt really bad for someone who is swimming in so much hate.

"I just thought, that's someone who's in a really bad spot, and I am in such a happy spot."
