Aussie Invictus Game star meets Prince Harry


As he shared a joke with Prince Harry, Australian former commando Damien Thomlinson reflected on the bond he shares with the down-to-earth royal.

Double amputee Damien, who lost both legs while on active service in Afghanistan in 2009, was part of the 40-strong Australian team competing in the Invictus Games last week.

‘Harry asked how we were doing,’ says Damien, 34.

Competing in the 2014 Invictus Games, Damien represented Australia in a number of sports, including wheelchair basketball.

'Being part of that helped me get to where I am now today,' says Damien.

Earlier this month, Damien and his teammates travelled to Orlando, Florida to battle against 500 competitors from 15 nations to secure a place on the winner’s podium.

‘Walking into the stadium with the team for the opening ceremony was one of my proudest moments to date,’ Damien recalls.
