The Friends star was laid to rest last Friday.

New details have been revealed about Matthew Perry's funeral, where his Friends co-stars reunited to mourn the star, who died late last month at the age of 54.

The star, who was most well-known for his role as Chandler Bing in the sitcom, was laid to rest at the Forest Lawn Church of the Hills in Los Angeles on Friday.

Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and David Schwimmer arrived dressed in black for the intimate memorial service, attended by around 40 people, with Matt LeBlanc joining them outside after.

The Friends stars did not, however, stay for the more private second half of the service, with family members and close friends gathering at The Courts of Remembrance, a more private area, The Sun reports.

"That part was only attended by Matthew’s family and closest friends," a source told the publication. "Less than 20 people. After the services, friends left while his family and few others took a car up to the area where the coffin was taken and then carried into The Courts of Remembrance."

When the funeral ended, Peter Gabriel's song 'Don't Give Up' played for mourners, with Daily Mail reporting there was "not a dry eye" in the room as the song played.

The song includes the lyrics: "Don’t give up, 'cause you have friends, don't give up, you're not the only one, don’t give up, no reason to be ashamed, don't give up, you still have us."

Matthew spoke about the song a year ago with Tom Power at the Hot Docs Ted Rogers Cinema in Toronto, sharing why it was so important to him.

The song came up when Tom asked the star what the soundtrack to his memoir Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing.

"'Don't Give Up'. Listen to this song when you get home, Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush," Matthew replied with no hesitation. "I don't know if you've heard it as it was a long time ago, but it's beautiful.

"They are saying, 'Don't give up.' I mean, come on, how am I not going to like that? The music video was just them hugging each other, and the camera just went around until the song ended. It was so cool, and I loved that. When I sign [my] book, I always put 'Don't give up' there because you shouldn't give up."

Matthew's Friends co-stars share tribute

Matthew's Friends co-stars shared a joint statement to People, that read: "We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just cast mates. We are a family.

"There is so much to say, but right now, we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. In time, we will say more, as and when we are able.

"For now, our thoughts and our love are with Matty’s family, his friends, and everyone who loved him around the world."

Matthew died on October 28 (LA time) as a result of an apparent drowning after reportedly saying he was more "fatigued" than usual after his daily game of pickleball.

There were no illegal drugs found at the actor's home, however, law enforcement sources told TMZ that multiple prescription drugs were found at his house.

"Authorities found antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs and a COPD drug in the house," the gossip site claims.

The World Health Organisation states that chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common lung disease that causes restricted airflow and breathing problems. It is most often caused by smoking and puts sufferers at a higher risk of other health problems.

An autopsy will reveal whether or not any drugs were in his system at the time of his death.
