Netflix has put together a Starting 5 of NBA stars whose season-long journeys have been chronicled in a 10-episode sports series.
Tipping off on Wednesday, Oct. 9, Starting 5 offers a behind-the-scenes look at the 2023-24 NBA season as told through the eyes of Jimmy Butler (of the Miami Heat), Anthony Edwards (Minnesota Timberwolves), LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers), Domantas Sabonis (Sacramento Kings) and Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics).

The series promises to capture the players’ “battles on and off the court as they chase greatness, push through injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy.”
James, for one, “pushes himself harder than ever to stay healthy — and dominant — in his 21st season,” the synopsis tells us, “while Edwards electrifies with his rapid rise, Butler’s relentless drive propels the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile play, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship.”
Peter J. Scalettar served as showrunner and executive-produced the project alongside Maverick Carter, Jamal Henderson, Philip Byron, Randy Mims, President Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Vinnie Malhotra, Ethan Lewis, Peyton Manning, Jamie Horowitz and Sam Pepper.
