In second place is F. Gary Gray’s Lift, starring Kevin Hart and Sam Worthington, which clocked 129 million views. The third title on the expansive list is J. A. Bayona’s Society Of Snow with 103 million views. The Spanish-language flick debuted at last year’s Venice Film Festival and was Oscar-nominated. After Society Of Snow, the contemporary shark flick Under Paris clocked 84 million views while Brooke Shields’s romcom Mother of the Bride was watched by 77 million.
The figures were contained in Netflix’s latest data dump aka its What We Watched report for the first half of this year from January to June 2024. According to the report, audiences watched 94 billion hours of Netflix content, which was just ahead of the previous six-month period. The previous six-month period saw One Piece and the Julia Roberts movie Leave the World Behind lead.
Popular non-original Netflix titles included The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which clocked over 80 million views, Minions on 72 million, and The Boss Baby on 63 million.
The streamers most watched documentaries were American Nightmare (55M), The Greatest Night in Pop (25M), Formula 1: Drive to Survive (12M), America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (6M), and Love on the Spectrum (11M).
The report encompasses Netflix’s entire catalog, meaning that there are thousands of titles. More insights will be forthcoming throughout the day.
