More news about the special NCIS 1000th episode has leaked out and word is that NCIS: Los Angeles alum Daniela Ruah will be reprising her role as Special Agent Kensi Blye for the occasion, along with Vanessa Lachey, who currently stars as NCIS: Hawai’i’s team leader Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant.

TVLine was the first to report that the crossover will take place, although the two women will not be making the trek to the D.C. office, but rather take part from a distance.

“It will be especially enjoyable for people who’ve been there from the very beginning I think,” NCIS co-showrunner Steven D. Binder told Parade at a celebration of the episode. “We really wanted to capture the history from episode one on up. There’s going to be a lot of Easter eggs in the show, too, visual Easter eggs, auditory Easter eggs for longtime fans to look around and be like, ‘Oh, there’s whatever.’”

Even though NCIS: Los Angeles has wrapped, Ruah has stayed in touch with the NCISverse as a director. She directed the March 4 “Left Unsaid” episode of NCIS and the upcoming April 15 NCIS: Hawai’i episode.

“Kensi was born as a character on NCIS, 15 years ago, so now to be able to step onto that set again, as a director, with that incredible cast and crew, is an absolute honor,” Ruah told Deadline. “So many familiar faces and people I love, and they’ve welcomed me with open arms. It’s like coming home.”

Lachey has also previously appeared on NCIS as part of several crossover episodes.

In other 1000th-episode news, TVLine reports that Director Leon Vance’s (Rocky Carroll) son Jared will make an appearance. Spence Moore II has been cast to play the character this time around. Jared was previously played by Khamani Griffin (in Season 6) and Akinsola Aribo (Seasons 9-11).

NCIS’s 1,000th episode will air as the seventh episode of Season 21 of NCIS on Monday, April 15 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
