Nancy Pelosi Adds Statement Jewelry to Powder Blue Power Suit for ‘Good Morning America’ Appearance

Former speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi brought Capitol Hill power suiting to New York City on Monday. The politician made an appearance on “Good Morning America” to discuss her forthcoming book, “The Art of Power,” the forthcoming presidential election and Vice President Kamala Harris’s candidacy.

For her “GMA” appearance, Pelosi opted for a powder blue, with a hint of purple, power suit. The suit featured coordinated tailored trousers and a single-breasted blazer, which she paired with a light cotton shirt. Pelosi continued the color motif with her pointed-toe pumps and a statement necklace in muted shades of blue, yellow and earth tones. She coordinated the necklace with earrings of a similar design.

During her time on “GMA,” Pelosi chatted with correspondent George Stephanopoulos about the forthcoming election and President Joe Biden’s legacy. “I have the greatest respect for the president,” Pelosi said. “I think he will be [viewed as] one of the most consequential presidents in our country.”

On Biden’s decision to suspend his re-election campaign, Pelosi said that, in her conversations with the president, “I wasn’t asking him to step down, I was asking for a campaign we could win.”

She also spoke about Vice President Kamala Harris’s ongoing presidential campaign and her potential choice of running mate. “I’m excited about her candidacy,” Pelosi said. “I think that all of the candidates for vice president are excellent and any one of them would be great.”

Pelosi’s suited look follows a pattern she’s established in her wardrobe throughout her decades-long career in politics. The former speaker of the United States House of Representatives has styled power suits during her career on Capitol Hill, often with certain sartorial statements and embellishments for a given occasion.

Like Pelosi, Vice President Kamala Harris has followed suit with her attire throughout the early days of her presidential campaign — wearing power suits with certain unique elements, like her signature pearls.

Power suiting for women in politics and prominent royal women has become a major trend over the course of the last few years. With distinguished women including Kamala Harris, Nancy Pelosi and royals such as Queen Letizia of Spain and Queen Maxima of The Netherlands, among others, styling the trend, power suiting is quickly becoming an essential wardrobe addition.
