Jake Wesley Rogers is sharing a health update with his fans.

On Thursday, Aug. 15, the Evergreen artist, 27, announced that he has to undergo surgery due to his Crohn’s disease.

In the Instagram post, he revealed that he was currently at a hospital awaiting surgery. “I have spent most of the last month [at the hospital]," adding that on Thursday, he "will be having surgery to repair part of [his] intestine that ruptured earlier this week."

As he continued, he revealed he was diagnosed four years ago “and for the most part it's been in remission but sadly that changed this month.”

“I'm in good hands here and surrounded by love. I know I will be OK,” he wrote. “I am very sad to say this but I'll be pausing all releases of new music temporarily as I will need to use this time to heal and get better. I love you all very much. Thank you for your hope and your hearts.”

Crohn's is a form of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) "characterized by inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract," according to Health. The disease affects an estimated half a million people in the United States.

Typically caused by a sensitive immune system — which confuses innocuous bacteria for harmful pathogens — symptoms include abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, anemia, skin changes and arthritis. If left untreated, Crohn's disease can be life threatening.

Other celebrities who have also opened up about their Crohn’s disease include Pete Davidson and Abbott Elementary star Tyler James Williams. The latter revealed in a January 2023 interview with Men's Health that he, like Rogers also, wasn’t diagnosed with it until his early 20s.

"I was really pushing my body to the limit," the 31-year-old told the outlet, noting that he weighed 130 lbs. at the time. "It just crashed. Everything shut down."

He was then immediately diagnosed after a visit to a gastroenterologist at NYU Langone.

Davidson, 30, revealed in 2016 to High Times that he was diagnosed with the autoimmune disease when he was around 17 or 18 years old. He disclosed that medical marijuana really aided his treatment. “My stomach would be in pain all day and I wouldn’t be able to eat, but then I’d smoke and I can eat and do my shows,” he said. “I’m sick, I have Crohn’s … so it sucks.”
