'Mind. Blown': Mum's genius cereal box hack goes viral

A mum has blown people’s minds online by showing them a simply hack for closing cereal boxes and avoiding the contents of it going stale.

UK mum and celebrant Becky Holden McGhee took to her Facebook page to post a series of step-by-step pictures of the trick and it’s now been shared nearly 110,000 times online.

“Had to share this. It's only taken me 40 years, but I now know the correct way to close a cereal box,” she wrote.

“Genius. It takes seconds, no more dried up cereal and ugly torn boxes to greet me every morning.”

The first picture shows an open box of Cheerios and then the three photos after it show a line of perfectly closed cereal boxes.

In a video at the end, Becky showed exactly how it was done.

“We all know they don’t close properly and it drives you nuts,” she started the video.

Becky then explained that you bend in the sides of the box to create a foldable V-shape, instead of trying to tuck them under the top flaps.

You then stick one side of the top flap into the box and fold it down, then taking the other top flat and doing the same thing.

Becky went on to reveal that she herself had discovered the hack while browsing through Facebook one night and just had to give it a go.

Now, she says it’s going in the book of things she’s learned whilst in lockdown, alongside

“front adverbials and magic squares.”.

Streams of people started to comment on the post, showing off their own cereal boxes now perfectly closed thanks to Becky.

“Woah I was today’s year old when I learned this lol! Mind blown,” one person said.

“Omg ... you’ve just charged my life,” another said.
