Mum ‘haunted’ by girl’s vaccine death

Natalie passed away aged 21, the TGA found that her death was "slightly related to the Moderna vaccine".

A mother has broken down while telling a senate inquiry how her daughter died after receiving her Covid-19 vaccination.

Mum-of-two Deborah Hamilton said her life had been “destroyed” after her daughter Natalie died in what she said was a “brutal, unnecessary death from a Covid-19 vaccination” in March 2022.

She told the senate committee examining two bills relating to the vaccines that her daughter was a “healthy 21-year-old with her whole life ahead of her” before she received the Moderna shot as her booster injection in February 2022.

Ms Hamilton said her family was torn apart by her daughter's death.

“My daughter would still be alive today if not for that Moderna vaccination,” she told the inquiry.

Natalie began to experience ill-health the day after receiving the shot, but would not receive medical treatment for the vaccination-related illness for weeks as a general practitioner and the staff at two hospitals misdiagnosed her as having reflux.

She eventually spent three weeks unconscious in ICU at the Alfred Hospital where her “heart and body gradually collapsed”.

“All because of the Moderna vaccine, her heart and kidneys were failing, her foot went black from a blood clot and she lost feeling in her leg,” Ms Hamilton said.

“She couldn’t breathe on her own and was put on the highest form of life support, the ECMO, which resulted in spinal cord damage.

“If she had survived Natalie would most likely would never have walked again.”

Before she was admitted to the Alfred, Ms Hamilton took her daughter to Monash Hospital, describing it “the biggest mistake of [her] life” and that the public facility was in “absolute shambles”.

“I have text messages still in my phone from her pleading for me to come and be with her ... this haunts me today and probably will for the rest of my life,” she said.

“Monash Hospital left her sitting in a chair for eight hours with a drip and a full vomit bag, she was humiliated and as it turns out in serious heart failure, yet she was ignored by staff.

“They too misdiagnosed her and sent her home after about 16 hours.”

Hours later she says her daughter was denied an ambulance and was forced to drive her to a private hospital before she was taken to the Alfred.

Ms Hamilton went on to slam how she was treated by hospital staff as she was unable to accompany her to initial visits and was only allowed to visit her for short time periods as she lay dying.

“I was granted one whole hour a day to visit my extremely sick daughter,” she said.

“This rule was so thoroughly inhumane, my daughter was dying and I could only visit her for an hour every other day.”

Ms Hamilton urged the government to “stop compulsory vaccinations now before more deaths and injuries occur”.

“An employer has no right to force a Covid vaccination for an employee to remain employed, I ask you all today how you are able to live with the fact that you know the Covid vaccine is causing deaths and injuries?” she asked.
