A mum has tried out the viral ‘upside down bikini’ trend on Instagram - and been applauded for her hilarity.

The unusual trend of tying a string bikini around your breasts rather than around your neck, was originally brought to light by model and blogger Valentina Fradegrada.

In a now Insta-famous image, shared last year and liked by more than 90K, the 27-year-old broodingly models the alternative way to wear a bikini.

But as many will appreciate, wearing your bikini top upside down, isn’t going to be particularly practical for everyone, something one mum decided to illustrate.

Taking to her Instagram account, the Knee Deep in Life, Laura Belbin decided to highlight what happened when she tried out the trend.

Laura told her fans she’d grabbed a black bin bag and attempted to fashion it into the latex-style two-piece worn by Fradegrada in her original post.

But the look wasn’t as easy to pull off as Laura had anticipated.

"When you want to focus on keeping the tan even, but you've had two kids and you've hit your 30s hard so your t**s look a lot like spaniels ears with saucepan areolas that sat on the hob for 40 minutes," she wrote in the accompanying caption.

"I was smuggling binbag up my crack as I swallowed. I had every intention of smiling but turns out clenching and looking sexy isn't as easy as it looks.

Though she might not have enjoyed her daring bikini try-out, her fans, on the other hand, loved it.

The post went viral soon after sharing, clocking up thousands of likes and receiving hundreds of comments from fans praising the mum for her hilarious post.

“That’s gold!!!” one wrote. “Thanks again for always making me smile and laugh with you.”

“Thanks for being so funny and not taking life so seriously, we need more people like you,” another agreed.

“I love your posts, they cheer me up so much,” yet another fan commented.

It isn’t the first time an unusual bikini has sparked a meltdown on social media, back in January a nude one-piece from Oh Polly caused quite the buzz.

With an extreme high waist, an oval cutout where your cleavage would sit and a g-string style bottom, some people weren’t sure about the revealing design.

“Why bother wearing anything tbh?” one social media user asked.

“These outfits get more and more tiny, next it’s gonna be a little slit right thru {sic) your vagina lips,” agreed another.

And last October Kim Kardashian whipped the Internet up into a frenzy after sharing a snap of herself to Instagram wearing a teeny tiny Chanel bikini that was so small she appeared to be at risk of sunburn in unmentionable places.
