The Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games Of 2024

TTYD remake goomba

Nintendo usually walks its own path when it comes to the release schedule of its console and games, and thanks to the latter the Switch has become one of the most successful consoles of all time. We might be waiting until 2025 for the next Switch console, but there’s plenty of fun to be had with the original Switch in 2024 in the meantime, with quite a few exclusives and some third-party ports on the way.

Even if Nintendo releases a new console, it still makes sense to buy a Nintendo Switch now with the console being as cheap as it is. After picking up a Switch, and catching up on some of the best Nintendo Switch games, you might be tempted to look at the console’s game release schedule in 2024.

Here are the most anticipated Nintendo Switch games releasing in 2024.

Contra: Operation Galuga

Old-school gamers will remember Contra, and this classic Konami franchise is making a comeback in 2024. Contra: Operation Galuga will continue the legacy of the run-and-gun series with a 4-player co-op in its arcade mode, and a new visual style and is expected to release in the first half of 2024. The new game will include updated graphics, sound effects, new levels, and an updated weapons system.

Princess Peach: Showtime!

Princess Peach: Showtime! is releasing in a busy month, but if you don’t care about other consoles then get ready to go on a new adventure. Princess Peach will be the character’s first solo outing in over three console generations, and feature vibrant levels as Peach’s trip to Sparkle Theater takes a magical turn.

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes

Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is not going to be a Nintendo Switch exclusive, but one look at the game’s trailers should tell you that it is perfect for the handheld. The new game will, as the name suggests, include over 100 heroes to choose from in this 2.5D adventure. It’s a spiritual successor to the Suikoden series, and it looks pretty great.

Endless Ocean: Luminous

Nintendo wowed the world earlier this year when it announced that it would be reviving the long-dead Endless Ocean series from the Wii era. The new game will feature an astonishing 30-player multiplayer mode, 500 species of marine life to discover, and an endless ocean that changes every time you take a dip.

Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door

One of the most beloved Mario games is getting a complete makeover with Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. We haven’t seen a great deal of the game yet, but what we have seen has shown the game’s quirky art style intact. The second Mario RPG will once again see Mario go on an odyssey to save Peach from an alien group. Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door will include turn-based combat with some unique paper drawing-inspired animations that put a neat bow on this present.

Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD

If you watched the Super Mario Bros. movie last year, then you would have seen lots of easter eggs and references to the Luigi’s Mansion series. The spooky 3DS game is getting a proper HD remaster for the Switch, which sees Mario’s brother retrieve the missing shards of the Dark Moon using the Poltergust 5000. The ScareScraper multiplayer mode will also be included in the remaster so you can team up with your friends to take on new challenges.

Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time

The announcement of Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time was a nice surprise last year as it is the first new game in the series in almost a decade. It may look like Animal Crossing, but The Girl Who Steals Time will play very differently. Players will be able to build their own city, choose whatever profession they want and use time travel to unlock the mysteries of the island.

Fantasy Life i was supposed to come out last year, but got bumped in to late-2024.
Level-5

Decapolice

Decapolice is one of the most interesting games coming to the Switch. A crime-suspense RPG from Level-5, Decapolice follows Detective Harvard as he hunts down criminals in a futuristic city. The open-world game, which looks a little too close to Persona, will let players travel back and forth between the real world and virtual reality.
