Space exploration is in focus in 2025 as Trump returns to the White House with key ally Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX. Space Capital founder and managing partner Chad Anderson sits down with Catalysts host Madison Mills to discuss his expectations for the space economy in 2025 and the role SpaceX may play. Anderson explains the groundbreaking year the space economy had in 2024 but predicts that 2025 will be "bigger and better," with SpaceX playing a large part. In particular, Trump's second term is expected to bring about "a lot more focus on leveraging commercial capabilities in space," which Anderson believes will be particularly auspicious for SpaceX. Anderson elaborates, "SpaceX has become the ... apex player in this market, and so I think they're going to benefit most greatly in 2025." However, he also notes, "I'm seeing new companies emerge, and we're going to see more competition in 2025." Anderson also discusses his expectations for space-related initial public offerings in 2025, opportunities for retail investors, Amazon's (AMZN) emerging competition with SpaceX's Starlink, and more.
