Michelle Yeoh Debuted Bangs in a Madame Morrible–Coded Gown at the 2025 Golden Globes
And looked madly enchanting to boot.
Michelle Yeoh is no stranger to the red carpet, but the actress—who is fresh off of starring in Wicked as Madame Morrible—is taking a few risks for her latest high-profile night. She continued the press tour's theme-dressing agenda at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, on Sunday, January 5.
The actress walked the red carpet in a black Balenciaga gown with a high-neck collar and a floor-sweeping train that paid homage to her character, Morrible, who is known for her regal professorially garb and intricate updos. She accessorized with amber gemstone earrings, a bedazzled watch, and a smattering of rings. She later joined her Wicked co-stars inside the ceremony at the film's table.
However, perhaps most notable was Yeoh's fresh forehead fringe. The actress styled her hair in a sleek updo with thick, blunt bangs. Her glam also included a subtle winged eyeliner and a peach lip.
Yeoh is attending the Golden Globes this year as a presenter rather than a nominee. While she didn't receive a nod for playing Madame Morrible in Wicked, she made history at the 2023 awards ceremony as the first Asian actress to win in the best actress category for her work in Everything, Everywhere, All At Once. She previously acted as a presenter at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
Though Yeoh is not represented in the nominations, she has been very supportive of both the movie and its cast, telling The Hollywood Reporter in December that the movie "is a truly immersive cinematic experience.” She also described Ariana Grande's Glinda and Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba as "yin and yang who fit together perfectly" and explained that the movie is “a journey of self-discovery,” with its overall message being that “you need to defy gravity and love who you are.”
