Not only does he try to live a normal family life, with a wife and child, but he’s a lot more emotional than usual in the latest Marvel instalment.
But is there a happier side to Magneto, and will we ever see it on the big screen one day?
Fassbender doesn't think that would be a bad idea!
In fact, the hunky actor says if his character were to have his own spin-off show, he wouldn't want it to be as serious as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine flicks, but a light-hearted movie like Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds!
“I think [Magneto’s spin-off film] should be a comedy,” the 39-year-old actor told Yahoo 7 Entertainment on the red carpet of the X-Men Apocalypse screening at Event Cinemas in Sydney last night.
“It should be a stand alone film. Magneto: The comedy.”
(Although the Irish-German heartthrob admits he’s not seen Deadpool yet!)
And when asked who his favourite Marvel superhero is, Fassbender reveals it's his character's son Quicksilver. Aww!
“There’s a lot of thinking,” he says about whether or not he’ll appear in another X-Men movie alongside his co-stars Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy and Nicholas Hoult.
“We’ll see what the guys at Fox come up with.”
X-Men Apocalypse hits cinemas in Australia on May 18.
