Meryl Streep calls Kamala Harris 'president': 'From my mouth to God’s ear'
“47 days,” Harris replied.
Who needs the November election, when we just got our new president?
Meryl Streep joined presidential candidate Kamala Harris and host Oprah Winfrey at a star studded Sept. 19 "Unite for America" livestream, where Streep "accidentally" referred to Harris as the president. "This has been overwhelming to have the privilege to sit in and listen to the testimony of people here," Streep opened. "Hello President Harris - oop!"
Streep looked down in embarrassment but sported a wry smile, indicating that whether it was a true misspeak or not, she wasn't sorry it happened. Harris was even less apologetic - "47 days" she said confidently into the camera, insinuating Streep will get her wish for a Harris presidency in less than two months.
"From my mouth to God's ear," Streep concurred.
Streep joined the "Unite for America" telecast to ask Harris a single question. "I think you're going to win, I'm sure you're going to win," she said, "but what happens, when you win, and he doesn't accept?"
The Doubt actress wanted to hear Harris' plan to head off another contestation of the election results by her opponent, Donald Trump, which happened four years ago, culminating in the January 6 insurrection attempt.
"One of the things that I have realized in the course of this campaign," Harris responded, "is that more Americans than we may realize who voted for Trump before, have decided January 6 was just a bridge too far."
She added that she believes "there is absolutely no tolerance whatsoever from the vast majority of Americans" for any further election denialism.

Harris and Winfrey were also joined by Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, Julia Roberts, and Bryan Cranston over the course of the hours-long campaign event. "I want to bring my daughters to the White House to meet this Black woman president," Rock said during his livestream segment.

Harris courted a bit of controversy by confirming to Winfrey that she and vice presidential pick Tim Walz are both gun owners. When Winfrey expressed surprise, Harris said, "if somebody breaks in my house, they’re getting shot.” She then quickly joked, "I probably should not have said that."
On the following day's episode of The View, host Ana Navarro backed up Harris' choice to pack heat by saying directly to camera, "I have a gun, too. So, nobody better be coming to my house!"
Other recent celebrities who've come out to endorse Vice President Harris' presidential bid include Linda Ronstadt ("this cat lady will be voting proudly in November for Kamala Harris"), Taylor Swift ("I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris"), and a slew of former Republican politicians and administration officials.
