Men Are Getting "Penis Filler" Injections To Make Their Dicks Thicker — Here's What It's Actually Like

Chris Bustamante, known online as InjectorChris, has administered so many penis filler treatments that he's lost count. This particular procedure is done to increase the girth of a penis, and it's getting more and more popular, so I joined him at his NYC clinic to get a firsthand look while one patient received 50 injections in his penis and scrotum.

The patient was a 34-year-old gay man. His penis was uncut and above average, at 4 inches long when flaccid and 7 inches long when hard. I watched him receive both penis filler and scrotum filler for the first time, and the whole experience was genuinely fascinating. I'm sure you have more questions than answers, so I'm going to break down the procedures, costs, thickness gains, and everything else you're probably curious about.

FYI: The patient chose to remain anonymous for this story, so I'll refer to him as Daniel throughout the article.

1.First of all, yes, the patient needs to be completely hard when receiving penis filler. This allows Chris to better see what the "full" dick looks like so he can make the filler appear as natural as possible. Chris also said that it's incredibly difficult to inject a flaccid penis, so Daniel received a Trimix injection, which is used to treat erectile dysfunction and helped guarantee a boner throughout the entire treatment.

I asked Daniel if he was uncomfortable with me watching him while he was naked and fully hard, and he simply said, "No." He did admit to feeling a little anxious about the treatments though, but mostly he was just excited. Chris's thorough consultation beforehand helped to calm him down because he "left no stone unturned" when discussing the procedures in detail.

2.And don't worry — every patient is numbed before getting all of these filler injections, so they don't actually feel anything. Daniel first received a shot of a local anesthetic above his pubic hair to numb his internal nerves. A topical cream was then applied to his dick and scrotum to numb his external nerves. He also received some laughing gas, which he casually and sporadically inhaled throughout the treatments.

Daniel said that his dick got numb super quickly. We waited a few minutes before Chris wiped away the leftover cream and then applied a cleaning solution to Daniel's privates. He commented on how weird the situation was because he could see his dick and balls being touched, but he couldn't feel a thing. He said it felt like his brain was playing a trick on him.

3.The penis filler procedure was up first. Each patient typically receives around 15 syringes of filler, but Daniel actually got 20 because his penis is above average in length. In total, the treatment usually takes around 10–15 minutes, but Daniel's took much longer because 1. there were more syringes, and 2. Chris really took his time to talk through the entire process for me and answer any questions that came up.

Daniel, who works in real estate, is no stranger to cosmetic procedures. In fact, Chris has previously worked with him several times on everything from Botox to cheek and jawline filler. Daniel has even gotten the bottom part of his tongue removed because, according to him, "I had a short tongue and wanted it to get longer." These run-ins with Chris are how he heard about penis filler in the first place, and after seeing before-and-after pictures online Daniel thought it'd be a good fit.

4.The syringes themselves aren't actually sharp, so Chris had to use a needle to poke four holes along the sides of Daniel's penis (again, his dick is a little longer than average, so typically only two or three holes would be necessary). These holes are what Chris refers to as "transitional zones." They allow him to meticulously glide the syringe into the penis longways, which helps him refine and sculpt the penis. My jaw was basically on the floor when that first syringe was inserted.

The thought of a needle going into my own dick was petrifying, so I semi-jokingly told Daniel he could hold my hand if he wanted to. He locked his eyes with mine and refused to look anywhere else. I'd just met this complete stranger a few minutes ago, and now we were staring each other down while a freaking needle was being inserted into his penis. It was such a weird and intimate bonding experience.

5.You're probably wondering what Daniel's penis looked like during this injection process. With each emptying of a syringe, it was as if a massive vein was magically appearing along the side of his dick, almost like a bulging tree root. I was also shocked at how little blood there was throughout this procedure.

For some reason I was expecting, like, a slow stream of blood that'd trickle out of each needle hole, but that wasn't really the case. Only a few random drops would form every so often, and Chris would casually wipe them away throughout the treatment. After a while, Daniel was even feeling comfortable enough to watch the filler being injected into his penis. If I was in his position, I don't think I'd have been mentally strong enough to watch my own dick being worked on.

6.On average, Chris performs about three penis filler treatments per day. About 20% of these patients see him for revisions to fix other providers' botched work (i.e., removing lumps, making everything look as "natural" as possible, or even dissolving the fillers completely). This is typically because a lot of providers merely pump the penis with filler, rather than carefully and strategically sculpting them for optimal results.

And, no, penis filler injections don't affect erection quality. They also don't affect the sensitivity of your penis, which means they won't magically make you last longer in bed.

7.Similarly, for Chris, it's important that the injections only be added on the sides of the penis and not on top. If you inject at the top then you'll get a dome look, and it'll make the penis appear more like a sausage and less "natural." Chris wants the penis to look as flat as possible during the procedure, sort of like a flounder fish, because the filler will naturally round out on its own. He also molds the dick with his hands after the treatment is done (don't hate me, but this part reminded me of, like, playing with Play-Doh as a kid).

Patients can also opt for injections in the head of their penis (i.e. the glans), but this usually requires multiple treatments to achieve the desired result. This is because the glans are made of a different type of tissue than the body of the penis, so its ability to expand isn't as great. Daniel decided to only receive injections along the sides of his shaft.

8.In case you're wondering, no, these penis fillers aren't permanent (though it's unlikely that patients will fully return to their original girth since a "small amount of collagen is created in response" to the filler). Chris actually blends two fillers together: hyaluronic acid and Radiesse. The latter isn't dissolvable, but it does get broken down by the body over time. This means the penis filler can last a few years. Most patients touch up their results anywhere from 6 months to 2 years after their procedure, but that moreso depends on their budget vs. wanting to maintain the extra thickness.

Aside from watching a few episodes of Nip/Tuck a decade ago, this entire world is completely foreign to me, so I asked Chris if he could dumb everything down even more. Basically, hyaluronic acid is dissolvable and easy to mold, while Radiesse is calcium-based and offers a lot of structure and longevity. Mixing these two FDA-approved fillers prevents the penis from getting squishy, so when the penis is soft it'll look soft, and when it's hard it'll look hard.

9.Daniel is uncut, so I was curious if this treatment would be the same for someone who's circumcised. In short, the procedure isn't different, but Chris's approach absolutely is (after all, no two penises are alike). For uncut penises, Chris is always careful not to add too much filler toward the head because he doesn't want to prevent the foreskin from retracting. He always builds out the thickest portion of the penis through the base and then transitions upwards so it sort of tapers and gets thinner at the top.

I asked Daniel if he was planning on getting touchups to maintain the added thickness over time, and he said he was "open to the idea" but was mostly just "excited to see the results the first time around."

10.For Daniel, his main goal in receiving girth enhancement was to boost his confidence, both in and out of the bedroom. Part of this was for vanity reasons (after all, a thicker dick results in a bigger bulge). But Daniel also knew that more girth could bring more pleasure for future partners during penetrative sex, which "would turn me on even more."

Before the procedure, Daniel's penis measured 3.75 inches in circumference while soft and 5.5 inches while hard, which are both above average. In fact, Chris told me that most people who receive penis filler from him measure at average and above-average girths. His main demographic is people who are aged 30–55, mostly because they have a lot more disposable income.

11.After finishing the work on Daniel's now-swollen penis, Chris put on clean gloves and moved directly to the scrotum, where he'd be injecting 30 more syringes of filler. This process, which Chris refers to as ScroFill, is designed to enhance the size and weight of the scrotum. If your goal is to simply increase your bulge size then this is what Chris recommends.

I asked Chris how much growth is typically expected for the average ScroFill procedure, but he told me he doesn't measure those results. "It's more of a visual thing," he said, before explaining that this process is "definitely more bang for your buck." The fillers last a longer time in the scrotum and usually fade away after about three years.

12.Daniel actually received twice as many syringes of filler to his scrotum than a traditional patient. You see, his boyfriend of two years has gotten ScroFill from Chris on two separate occasions, which "was definitely a deciding factor" for Daniel: "I loved his results, and it looks so beautiful."

I asked Daniel if his boyfriend also received penis filler, but he and Chris both laughed. I assumed they were implying that his boyfriend is a strict bottom and has no desire for a thicker dick, but Daniel held out his right arm and glided his left across his entire hand, forearm, and then elbow, ultimately wrapping his fingers around his right bicep to signify how massive his boyfriend's dick is: "The ScroFill makes everything match, and now it all looks perfect to me."

13.Unlike the penis filler procedure, Chris doesn't need to create holes in the scrotum for the syringes to slide into. Instead, he simply uses a different needle for each injection (because they become dull after each use) and sticks them directly into the scrotum itself. With each new vial of filler, it looked like Chris was creating tiny balls along Daniel's scrotum. He was basically inflating it like a balloon.

Surprisingly, Daniel claimed that the ScroFill procedure was "very relaxing." Each syringe does contain lidocaine, which is a local anesthetic, so I guess that would explain why he felt so comfortable.

14.By the time Chris finished injecting 15 syringes into the right side of the scrotum, it looked like the before-and-after of one of those images when a dog gets stung by a bee and their nose inflates to twice its size. That initial swelling will go down after about three days though. Chris wiped away a little blood and then changed gloves before finishing with the last 15 injections.

A typical ScroFill treatment usually takes about 10–15 minutes to complete. The filler will fully settle after about two weeks, and a little swelling and bruising are common.

15.We were nearing the two-hour mark when Chris announced that he had finished the 50th and final injection. After Daniel's inflated dick and balls were wiped with a three-alcohol solution and then covered in an anti-septic, Chris started to cover the area in gauze. Daniel jokingly asked if he should be a mummy for Halloween. We all laughed because, at a regular queer party in NYC, this minimal gauze would be the only costume he'd need.

The head of Daniel's penis wasn't wrapped up, in case he needed to pee throughout the day. He did still have an erection though, and apparently 60% of patients leave the clinic with a boner. Daniel carefully stood up and folded his dick upwards so he could tuck it between his underwear and belly button. "These briefs are going in the trash. I wore them on purpose," he commented.

16.Even though the procedures were over, Daniel had a lot of homework to do. For example, throughout the next three weeks, he'd need to massage his penis every day for 15 minutes. The filler is most moldable during the first week, so massaging it is important to help keep everything smooth and prevent lumps. "I do about 90% of the work, but the patient needs to do the other 10% so the penis can keep its shape," Chris explained. Oral and penetrative sex will also be off limits for at least a week, though Chris recommends two.

Daniel also needs to avoid working out for 24 hours, and he can't jerk off for 48 hours either. Hot tubs, pools, and saunas are a big no-no for 48 hours following the treatments as well.

I asked what would happen if Daniel got a boner while massaging his dick, and Chris said it'd be totally fine. In fact, he insisted that it'd make the process even easier. There may be a little discomfort while massaging, but Chris simply compared it to rubbing a sore muscle.

17.The more filler you inject, the more swelling and inflammation you'll have, so for the next three days Daniel's penis will look and feel especially massive. His privates will be about 90% healed after three weeks, and after six weeks they'll be 100% healed. By that time, all of the filler will be completely set as well. This is the point when Chris can get accurate "after" measurements to see how much added girth has been achieved.

Penis filler patients can typically expect to see an increase of anywhere from a quarter of an inch to two inches in girth. For context, Chris explained that one inch of added girth is equal to a 25% increase in thickness for the average penis.

18.Daniel's original girth measured at 3.75 inches while soft and 5.5 inches while hard. After the procedure, both of those numbers increased by three-quarters of an inch to 4.5 inches and 6.25 inches, respectively. For reference, I measured the circumference of a paper towel roll. The roll is just under 5.5 inches in girth, which means his dick is now thicker than the paper towel roll.

The average flaccid penis is 3.66 inches in circumference, while the average erect penis is 4.6 inches in circumference. Daniel was clearly measuring above both of those numbers before his procedure.

And if you want some other objects for comparison, I also measured my wrist and a can of soda...you know, for science. It turns out Daniel's girth-enhanced dick is now the same thickness as my entire wrist.

19.Even though penis filler is specifically designed for girth enhancement, patients usually see increases of about half an inch while flaccid because the weight of the filler makes their penis hang lower. For Daniel, his penis was originally 4 inches long while soft and 7 inches while hard. He did receive more injections than the average person, so he managed to grow an additional 1.5 inches while flaccid, totaling 5.5 inches in length. For reference, I made a tiny chart below to showcase all of those new lengths, and I included a pen (which measured at 5.75 inches) for comparison.

Daniel's erect penis is still measured at 7 inches after the procedure because that particular length never changes from penis filler treatments.

20.The total cost of each treatment depends on how much filler is used. The first five syringes cost $800 each, the second five syringes cost $700 each, and all additional syringes after that cost $600 each. The average penis filler and ScroFill treatments typically use 15 syringes, meaning they'd separately cost $10,500 per procedure. However, Daniel received 50 total syringes and got both procedures done at the same time to take advantage of the adjusted rate. In total, both treatments cost him $31,500.

On their own, Daniel's penis filler treatment of 20 syringes would have cost $13,500, and his ScroFill treatment of 30 syringes would have cost $19,500, bringing that total to $33,000. Receiving both procedures together technically saved him $1,500.

21.Are these prices worth the end result? Daniel definitely thinks so. I currently have no interest in receiving any type of injection, whether it's in my penis, scrotum, or face, but I have absolutely no problem with the people who do. Daniel is free to live his life as he pleases, and these treatments aren't endangering himself or anyone else. He's also in a great place financially, and he's thrilled with the results, so I'm genuinely happy for him.

Ultimately, sitting in on these procedures was a truly wild, fun, funny, and unusual experience. The three of us spent about two hours together, most of the time talking about movies and making jokes. Even though we started as strangers, the whole process was so casual and painless that it mostly felt like three friends catching up, albeit one of us was completely naked and hard, but I digress.
