Melanie Lynskey Shares Sweet Tribute to Jason Ritter on His 45th Birthday: 'I Love Your Heart and I Love Your Cute Face'

Melanie Lynskey is celebrating Jason Ritter on his special day!

The Yellowjackets actress, 47, took to Instagram on Monday, Feb. 17 to wish her husband a happy 45th birthday. In the heartfelt post, Lynskey gushed over Ritter’s ability to show love to everyone around him.

“I get to hang out with you every day. People you work with, people you’ve known for years, strangers you just met, they all ask me if I know how lucky I am,” she began the lengthy caption. “I do know. I really, really do. You bring so much joy to everyone you encounter, and then you come home and somehow have the energy to be present and bring even more joy to us. I’m so proud of you."

"I’m so grateful for how good you are at putting furniture together, doing our daughter’s hair, listening and making actual real life changes, and cutting the cat’s nails," she went on to say.

“While I sometimes wish I could put your phone in a lockbox for a few hours a day, and I also wish you wouldn’t violently pull shirts from hangers so that about once a week a hanger snaps in half, I also feel grateful for those things because really, that’s not much to have to deal with,” it concluded. “I love you very much Dringus. I love your heart and I love your cute face. Happy birthday. ❤️”

The New Zealand native also shared a carousel of photos of Ritter, including some with their 6-year-old daughter and one of him asleep with their family dog.

Other images showed comedian Ben Schwartz adjusting the Matlock star’s tie and more of Lynskey posing alongside Ritter.

The pair first met in 2013 when they starred alongside one another in The Big Ask. They later began dating and again worked together in the 2014 rom-com We’ll Never Have Paris and The Intervention in 2016. They welcomed their daughter in 2018 and two years later, they tied the knot in a private ceremony on their front porch.

The Last of Us star previously spoke with PEOPLE about her relationship, praising Ritter for helping her balance her career while still being a mom.

“He's the most supportive person in the world,” she said In April 2024. “The last few years we've had this role of like, whoever's job makes the most sense, whether it's the most exciting career-wise or it's more money, we would prioritize the one that was going to help move the person's career forward.”

She continued: "I'm so, so, so grateful to [Ritter]. I think a lot of men don't have that kind of self-esteem and that respect for their partner. I'm grateful that I have someone who does.”

Lynskey added that Ritter even sacrifices his own opportunities for her, noting that despite “getting offered stuff all the time,” he often passes.

“It's like genuinely sacrificing,” she said.
