Melania Trump Documentary Directed By Brett Ratner Bound For Prime Video
A documentary on First Lady Melania Trump directed by Brett Ratner is bound for Prime Video, a spokesperson for Amazon confirmed on Sunday morning.
The company has “exclusively licensed” the project “for both theatrical and streaming release,” they said, with the project to offer viewers “an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look” at Trump.

Filming kicked off in December — one month after Donald Trump’s victory in a second presidential election — for an anticipated release in the second half of next year. Fernando Sulichin is exec producing for New Element Media, along with Mrs. Trump.
“Prime Video will be sharing more details on the project as filming progresses and release plans are finalized,” said the spokesperson. “We are excited to share this truly unique story with our millions of customers around the world.”
Amazon making a deal for the Trump doc is no surprise, given support shown to the former and future POTUS by the tech giant’s founder, Jeff Bezos, who following Trump’s latest election victory, took to X to commend his “extraordinary political comeback.” Bezos, who owns the Washington Post, made headlines during the election by deciding that the paper would withhold a presidential endorsement for the first time in nearly four decades, citing the possibility of creating a “perception of bias.” The move hasn’t sat well with reporters, members of the editorial board, and other staffers, with Pulitzer-winning cartoonist Ann Telnaes being just the most recent to resign. She announced her exit on Friday due to the newspaper’s refusal to publish a satirical cartoon taking aim at Bezos’s relationship with the President-elect. Amazon announced a $1 million donation to Trump’s inauguration last month.
Most recently serving as First Lady during Donald Trump’s first presidential administration, from 2017 to 2021, Melania is a Slovenian former model and businesswoman who began her modeling career in her teens and later moved to Milan and Paris before settling in New York City in 1996. She first met Donald Trump in 1998, marrying him in 2005, before becoming a U.S. citizen in 2006. As First Lady, she’s perhaps best known for initiatives like “Be Best,” which focused on children’s well-being, online safety, and opioid abuse prevention.
Aside from the Trump doc landing at Amazon, the most notable aspect of the project would have to be the involvement of Ratner, a prominent director and producer best known for the Rush Hour films, who has stepped back from studio projects since 2017, when he faced multiple allegations of sexual misconduct at the height of the Me Too movement. Following these allegations, Ratner saw the severing of Warner Bros’ $450 million co-financing deal with his production company, RatPac Entertainment. He most recently directed an episode of the Nat Geo docuseries Breakthrough in 2015.
Fox News scooped the story on the forthcoming documentary.
