Meghan's tribute to Diana on her wedding day was nearly 'ruined'

While she may not have been there in person, the spirit of the late Princess Diana was certainly present on the day of her son Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s royal wedding in May.

Prior to the occasion, the royal couple had planned to include subtle tributes to Diana, one of which was to be in Meghan’s wedding flower arrangement that would include flowers from their Kensington Palace residence.

However, Harry and Meghan have now revealed in an audio recording for ‘A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’ that their plans for the bouquet almost went astray as mother nature wasn’t exactly cooperating.

“We have a very small garden here that we had been planting things in the fall for and what was really special, I think, was that the morning of the wedding Harry went in and he picked some flowers to go into my bouquet, which was really beautiful and something that makes it sentimental and really meaningful,” Meghan said, according to Vanity Fair.

Harry then chimed in saying, “We didn’t have as many flowers in our little garden as we had hoped for because I think it snowed at Easter… That kind of ruined the whole thing.”

Luckily Meghan’s bouquet looked beautiful regardless!

In another subtle nod to Princess Diana, Meghan could be seen wearing a ring from Diana’s personal collection.

The aquamarine cocktail ring is emerald-cut, surrounded by small solitaire diamonds, and set in 24-carat yellow gold with a pale blue central jewel.

The ring – which was created by Asprey in 1997 – was worn by Diana a couple of times in her life, most notably at an auction of her dresses at Christie’s, London, in 1997.
