Meghan Markle dazzles in scarlet plunging gown with thigh-high slit

Meghan Markle has caused her fans’ jaws to drop after making a stunning appearance on a New York red carpet.

The Duchess of Sussex donned a scarlet Carolina Herrera gown for the Intrepid Museum's 2021 Salute to Freedom gala on Wednesday night.

The show-stopping dress featured a plunging neckline, a front split and a dramatic sweeping train.

Meghan went for a minimalistic up-do to make sure all eyes were on her ensemble, completing the look with a pair of diamond earrings and a pair of burgundy satin pumps by Giuseppe Zanotti.

“WOW,” one person simply wrote on Twitter.

Another said “meticulous tailoring” had been used on the Caroline Herrera design, while another person said: “Took my breath away.”

"Unapologetically fabulous. Can't wait to see this side of her shine more freely now," one fan wrote on Instagram.

Prince Harry meanwhile didn't wear his military uniform to the event, after being stripped of his honorary titles when he left his role with the royal family.

However, he did don his military medals he received during his time in the British Armed Forces.
