Meet the five couples set to fight it out on The Block 2019
We’re just three days away from The Block airing on Channel Nine on August 4th, with five couples at the ready to fully transform Melbourne’s The Oslo Hotel.
The Oslo, which was built more than 150 years ago and has most recently been used as a backpacker’s hostel, is in serious need of some TLC from the Blockheads on series 15 of the show.
Check out the brave couples making their way to the St Kilda building site with dollar bills ringing in front of their eyes.
Luke Struber and Tess Cattana
Cairns couple, 30-year-old Luke Struber and 28-year-old Tess Cattana, had been applying to appear on The Block for the past four years before they were finally picked to appear on this year’s renovation reality show. It came as such a surprise to the duo that they ended up spending their honeymoon on the show, after tying the knot just before filming began.

El’ise and Matt
Hot contenders to take out the top spot, 33-year-old fashion manager and 39-year-old carpenter and renovation business owner, Matt, from Perth, Western Australia have years of experience in the area. They’ve been married seven-and-half years and have three adorable kids together.

Jesse Raeburn and Mel
If Jesse looks familiar, it might be because the 29-year-old was the auctioneer who sold Hans and Courtney’s apartment last year for a whopping $410,000 profit. He’s back again this year, but this time he and his 31-year-old partner, Mel, are hoping to win some cash for themselves by showing off their renovations skills.

Mitch Edwards and Mark McKie
‘Stylish grandads’ 56-year-old Mitch Edwards and 57-year-old Mark McKie from Sydney, have 15 years experience flipping properties, so they’re well positioned to ace The Block. The couple, who have been together for 14 years, “don’t like being the oldest,” but insist they’re well able for the challenge ahead.

Andy Saunders and Deb Saunders
Out of 45,000 entrants, Any and Deb Saunders, from Wallabi Point in NSW, made the cut for this year’s The Block. The 48-year-old stand-up comedian and 46-year-old homewares store owner will no doubt be hoping to take home the top prize, which sees them pocket $100,000 on top of whatever profits they make from their home on auction day.
