The first challenge of the “Ciao Down” episode was simple at its core but cooking it well was no easy task: a stunning Italian dish. Team Ramsay as the reigning champs cooked in the top-level kitchen, Team Nyesha got the middle, and Team Blais was in the basement.

Before the winning dish was announced, each mentor awarded one member of their team an Immunity Pin, which can keep them safe from elimination in the future. Richard awarded his to Jeff for his Roman-style fried cod with red pepper tomato sauce; Nyesha awarded hers to Bobby for his handmade gnocchi with swiss chard and handmade ricotta; and Gordon handed his to Ryan for his ground veal homemade ravioli.

Then, the winning dish from those three was selected and it was the gnocchi cooked by Bobby, which kept his team safe from elimination.

Nyesha said, “Bobby, you took the theme of today’s challenge and made it your own. So, please, head back to the lounge and relax. You’ve earned it.”

Because Mistie’s dish didn’t make the platform, she was the obvious choice for Gordon to send to the elimination challenge. She was up against Austin from Richard’s team. Richard said he sent his No. 1 pick into battle so Team Blais would win.

The 20-minute challenge was to create an Italian piccata. The winning dish was a veal piccata from Austin, which sent Mistie home.

“I am disappointed. But I have learned that if I could do that, nothing is going to stop me,” Mistie said as she rode the elevator down.

Next week, the chefs will bring the heat as they battle to make the best barbeque feast. In the elimination round, two chefs go head-to-head and make an elevated dish using cauliflower as they fight to remain in the competition in the "Grills Gone Wild" episode.

Next Level Chef airs Thursday nights at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX. Streams next day on Hulu.
