The McDonald's Ordering Trick We Wish We’d Known About Sooner

Fast food is great when you are in a time crunch or when you have a craving for a McDonald's burger or a Chick-fil-A sandwich, but it's no secret that while this food is yummy and readily available, it's not always the healthiest. If you're trying to cut down on calories and carbs, there are many modifications you can make to your favorite fast food orders to allow yourself to enjoy the food you love while still sticking to your nutrition plan.

Personally, I'm trying to cut down on the number of calories and carbs I eat each day, but I love a McDonald's Big Mac every now and then. When that craving hits, there's nothing that will make it go away, so when I ran across this genius Big Mac ordering hack, I was all ears. Content creator @LORAfied shared the tip on her Instagram page, and I had to try it for myself.

How to Order a Low Carb Big Mac Salad

Lora said to save yourself some calories and carbs, order a Big Mac with no bun and extra lettuce. You will get the "burger" in a plastic container and it will resemble a salad. Lore said this brings the burger to 6 grams of carbs, 330 calories and 18 grams of protein. According to McDonald's, a regular Big Mac has 590 calories, 46 grams of carbs and 25 grams of protein.

I thought it was absolutely delicious because one of my biggest complaints about Big Mac burgers is that the buns can get soggy with all the sauce on top. I really enjoyed ordering it without the bun, and I think next time I will ask for more pickles just to give it a little more crunch.

One thing to note is that the burger patties were not warm by the time I sat down to eat them, but they were clearly warm when they were put on top of the lettuce because the lettuce was a little wilted. If you want lettuce that has more crunch, you can always ask for the lettuce on the side.
