Macca's has a big change coming to its menu
Love them or hate them, there’s nothing in the world quite like a McDonald’s burger.
Or there was nothing quite like them; the restaurant chain has confirmed that there are some changes in store for their tried and tested menu.
The Cheeseburger, the Quarter Pounder and the Big Mac have been Aussie classics since the first Macca’s opened its doors in Sydney 1971, but eagle-eyed customers may have noticed some suspect marketing of late that suggests a change in the wind for the tasty trio.
‘Hotter, juicier and tastier’ is what the campaign promises, but what it really means is that the McClassics range has changed its recipes.
Once you’ve picked your jaw up off the floor, here are what these changes really entail.
What’s new
The patties will now be cooked with onions on the grill, and seared more quickly for the promised ‘juicier’ element.
The restaurants will also be using a new type of bun, and giving it a quick toast before serving.
Most worrying is that the famous Big Mac sauce which some people - me - have been known to order as a side in and of itself, is being tweaked.
The restaurant chain has defended the choice saying in a statement that the chain is ‘always looking for ways to give our customers the best tasting menu (they) can’.
"We’ve reviewed all of the steps and elements that go into serving our classic burgers to ensure they are the very best they can be – and here in Australia, we’ll be the first country in the world to serve these hotter, juicier and tastier burgers at every one of our restaurants,” they explained.
