McDonald’s Nearly Sold Out Holiday Release Makes Fans Regret Not Acting Sooner: ‘Dang It’

McDonald's quietly launched an entire holiday merch collection, and some of it has already sold out, to the dismay of fans.

Last year, the fast food company went viral for its Grimace-themed ugly holiday sweater, and now, it's ready to build on the hype with an entire collection that features the beloved purple character and a few of McDonald's most iconic menu items.

Its 2024 holiday collection was launched exclusively through the Golden Arches Unlimited, McDonald's online merch store that launched in 2019. Included in what the company dubbed the "winter essentials" is a re-released version of the original purple Grimace Holiday Knit Sweater ($65), a red version of the cotton-polyester crew neck sweater outfitted with Mickey D's fries ($65), and perhaps the most sought after, a now-sold-out and limited-edition version emblazoned with the seasonal favorite: the McRib ($65).

The collection comes with matching accessories for every sweater as well as some other home decor items sure to be a hit with guests this holiday season. For fans of Grimace, the beloved burger joint launched a pair of festive crew socks ($15) and matching purple slippers ($20).

Those more interested in the company's golden delicious sides than they are Ronald McDonald's friends will be pleased to know the limited-edition collection also features odes to several fried favorites.

Fans can choose from chicken nugget stockings (currently listed at a discounted rate of $3.98/piece or $12.98 for a four-pack), two different styles of fry socks in white and red ($15), a trio of scrunchies patterned with food icons ($10), along with a 500-piece puzzle featuring its "greatest dips" (on sale for $9.98) and wrapping paper emblazoned with pictures of McDonald's fries ($9).

Food blogger Snackolator was among the first to share the news with fans, asking followers in a Dec. 1 Instagram post what pieces were most alluring to them.

While a majority of people seemed pleased that they still had a chance to snag a chicken nugget stocking or french fry ornament ($15), some were upset they didn't know about the collection sooner and lamented over the missed opportunity that was snagging the McRib sweater.

"Stop right now!!!!!!! I need that McRib sweater so bad!! Please restock!!! 🤞🤞🤞🤞," one declared.

"The McRib sold out already," a second noted. "Dang it."

"McRib sweater sold out 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭," a third complained.

Meanwhile, others couldn't believe the price of the collection.

"The shipping is more than the fries ornament 😭," one shared with disappointment. "Only FedEx overnight option and up!"

"I wanted then til I seen a 60 dollar price point," another admitted. "Not surprised this hasn't sold out yet like the bk calendar, that was actually a good deal with a potential resale margin."

Despite what some may believe, last year's sweaters are listed on resale websites at nearly double the price they initially sold for, so maybe there's value after all. Plus, there's still a chance for some to get their hands on a version of the McRib sweater—if they're willing to pay a premium, of course.
