Matt Smith Looks Unrecognizable Rocking a Colorful Mohawk on Set Filming with Austin Butler in N.Y.C.
Matt Smith and Austin Butler are filming 'Caught Stealing,' directed by Darren Aronofsky
Matt Smith is going from medieval Westeros to 1990s punk.
On Wednesday, Oct. 2, the actor, 41, was seen rocking a multi-colored mohawk, black leather jacket, plaid pants and boots next to costar Austin Butler on the set of their movie Caught Stealing in New York City.
The actor appears to be playing a punk-inspired character in the upcoming Darren Aronofsky movie, which The Hollywood Reporter reported in March takes place in New York in the '90s.
Butler, 33, struck a far more casual look than the House of the Dragon actor on set, wearing a blue button-down shirt and jeans. The Dune: Part Two actor did appear to wear fake blood on his neck as he and Smith filmed scenes for the new movie.

Butler was first said to star in Aronofsky's new movie back in March, as both THR and Deadline reported at the time. Deadline reported in August that Smith joined the film's cast, along with Liev Schreiber, Zoë Kravitz, Regina King and Bad Bunny.
Caught Stealing is based on author Charlie Huston's 2005 novel of the same name. The author adapted his own novel for the big screen, as multiple outlets reported in recent months. According to a logline obtained by THR, the movie "follows Hank Thompson, a burned-out former baseball player, as he’s unwittingly plunged into a wild fight for survival in the downtown criminal underworld of ‘90s N.Y.C."

The film marks Aronofsky's first major release since 2022's The Whale, for which Brendan Fraser won an Academy Award for Best Actor. In 2023, Aronofsky also directed and cowrote a shorter movie titled Postcard from Earth that screened exclusively at The Sphere in Las Vegas, per Rolling Stone.
Caught Stealing does not yet have a release date.
