MasterChef judge reveals exciting engagement news

He’s become a firm fan favourite as one of the three new judges on this year’s season of MasterChef Australia.

And now Andy Allen has opened up for all his fans about the moment he dropped to one knee and popped the question to his other half, Alex Davey.

The pair, who have been dating for the past four years, were on a holiday to New Zealand together in December last year when Andy decided to propose.

"I was so scared about the ring going off in the scanner at the airport and having to drop down on one knee and propose in front of the security guards," Andy told TV Week.

While that didn’t put a spanner in his plans, Andy said he found it hard to find a secluded place to propose.

After initially planning to do it at a New Zealand beach, which was packed with hundreds of people when they arrived, he managed to pop the question during a romantic walk.

"She was so shocked, she basically collapsed on my shoulder," he said.

"I pretty much had to ask her if it was a 'yes'. She was very shocked."

Alex is living in Sydney while Andy films MasterChef in Melbourne and before he took up the job former judge Matt Preston advised him to always put his relationship first.

Andy is one of three new judges to have taken over from former stars of the show, George Colomabris, Matt Preston and Gary Mehigan.

Fans have been loving the chemistry between Andy and fellow judges foot critic Melissa Leong and Jock Zonfrillo
