Mariska Hargitay, Snoop Dogg, Octavia Spencer and More Pay Tribute to Carl Weathers After His Death at 76
The actor died "peacefully in his sleep" on Thursday
Carl Weathers is being remembered by his celebrity friends after his death.
Mariska Hargitay, Snoop Dogg and Octavia Spencer and Jamie Foxx are among some of the stars who paid tribute to the late actor, best known for his roles in Rocky, Predator and The Mandalorian, after he died at age 76 on Thursday.
On Friday, Hargitay, 60, posted a selfie of her and Weathers in a car together on set while filming Law & Order: SVU during his guest appearance on the show back in 2018.
“We lost a great one. God bless you♥️,” the actress wrote in her caption.

Dogg, 52, championed Weathers in a post on Instagram, writing, “Long Beach legend 🙏🏾🎥🥊🕊️🌹. R. I. P.,” referring to the area where both he and the New Orleans-born Weathers were raised and resided.
Spencer, 52, also posted a heartfelt message in memory of Weathers, writing on Instagram, “I’m deeply saddened to hear of Carl Weathers’ passing. His legendary career, especially as Apollo Creed in the Rocky series, will be an inspiration to us all forever.”
“Sending love to his family, friends and fans around the world 🤍🕊️,” the Truth Be Told actress added.
On Saturday, Foxx, 56, shared a tribute post of his own honoring the late actor.
"Rest in power to a man that inspired me to do what I do… ," he began his caption, which was posted alongside a carousel of images of Weathers during his career.
Foxx continued, "Every time I watched Rocky I always rooted for Apollo Creed… hearing of his passing, brought real tears to my eyes… God has just gained another angel #swipeleft look through these photos and see a man who curated an incredible career."

Marlon Wayans, meanwhile, detailed in his own post late Friday how Weathers’ portrayal of Apollo Creed in Rocky “changed my life."
“A hero is only as good as your villain … APOLLO was great and it made ROCKY greater,” Wayans, 51, wrote in his caption. “This movie changed my life. It empowered me as a young black actor/man to see a character played with such finesse and dignity as Carl Wethers gave Apollo. Thank you for always being a beacon of dignity … rest well.”

The latest tributes to Weathers — who died peacefully in his sleep, per a statement from his family, according to Deadline and Variety — come about after Sylvester Stallone shared an emotional statement in memory of his Rocky costar.
“We lost a legend yesterday,” Stallone, 77, wrote on Instagram. “My life was forever changed for the better the day I met Carl Weathers. Rest in power and keeping punching." The actor-director added in a video posted alongside his message that Weathers was an "intricate part of my life and success."
Dolph Lundgren, who starred opposite Weathers in Rocky IV, wrote in a post, “I was saddened to hear the news this morning. Along with the world, I will miss Carl. He was a great actor, a terrific athlete, and a good friend. I cherish many special memories of Carl, both professionally and personally. Like Apollo Creed, he had that special charm that always brought a smile to your face. 🙏."
Michael B. Jordan, who portrays Apollo's son Adonis Creed in the Creed film franchise, also paid tribute to Weathers, writing on Instagram, “We lost a Legend."
Weathers' The Mandalorian costar Pedro Pascal simply wrote in a post, “Words fail 💔 #CarlWeathers." The late actor portrayed Bounty Hunters Guild leader Greef Karga, who grew close to Pascal’s namesake character, in the Star Wars series.
Arnold Schwarzenegger also honored former costar Weathers as he shared a still of the pair on the set of the 1987 sci-fi action film Predator.
“Carl Weathers will always be a legend. An extraordinary athlete, a fantastic actor, and a great person,” the actor, 76, wrote in a message. “We couldn’t have made Predator without him. And we certainly wouldn’t have had such a wonderful time making it. Every minute with him - on set and off - was pure joy."
"He was the type of friend who pushes you to be your best just to keep up with him. I’ll miss him, and my thoughts are with his family," added Schwarzenegger.
