Mario Lopez Thinks His Middle Son Dominic Has the Acting Bug: ‘He Wants to Do More’ (Exclusive)

"People have already reached out to him," he said of his 11-year-old son

Mario Lopez’s son is following in his footsteps!

The actor, 51, recently spoke with PEOPLE timed to his appearance on the Lopez vs. Lopez season 3 finale, which stars father-daughter duo George and Mayan Lopez.

When asked if he left the set inspired to make a sitcom with his three kids, he shared that his 11-year-old son Dominic "wants to do more" acting after they costarred in the holiday movie Once Upon a Christmas Wish.

"It's funny because I did a movie this year with my son Dominic," Lopez said, adding, "and I've worked with my wife a lot."

"My daughter's done stuff, but my middle son, Dominic, is really into it," he continued. He wants to do more. People have already reached out to him. I wasn't trying to encourage him or discourage him one way or the other. We've been trying to be supportive."

Lopez and his wife Courtney Lopez also share daughter Gia, 14, and son Santino, 5.

Dominic, despite his interest in acting, has not gone to his dad for advice. "He's pretty confident," the television host said. "I mean, he does wrestling. He faces a lot of scarier things."

In December 2024, Lopez shared a compilation video of him and his son on set of the movie on Instagram, writing that they “had a blast."

In addition to their shared acting interest, the two also participate in martial arts together. Back in 2022, the Saved By the Bell alum revealed that he participated in a jiu jitsu competition with his middle son, who was 8 at the time.

"When your son asks you to compete in the same tournament as him, you do it. You're never too old to challenge yourself & set goals," Lopez captioned an Instagram post, which featured photos and a video clip of him and Dominic from the event. "Thank you to all the homies who helped get us ready!”

Last October, the actor posed with his family as he received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Before unveiling his star, he made a speech and addressed his family, saying, "Today, I happen to be turning 51 years old and I’m still blessed to be doing what I love the most. Only now, what I love most is being a dad."

He continued, "As great an honor as it is to submit my family name here, what I’m most proud of is that my kids are here to see this — so they know that if they don’t just spend their time but use their time, they can achieve anything they want in their lives."
