Yumi Stynes opens up her beauty cupboard for marie claire

Are you a skincare, makeup, fragrance or hair girl? “I'm all about skin care! I love pots and potions and unction’s that help a girl to feel aglow. If you can get your skin looking radiant, everything else falls into place”.

What’s your go-to weekday look? “On the dullest of days, I love a bright lip, like LUMA by Jess Hart Pink Hope . It lifts everything, including my mood! I aim for a smooth complexion with a (very) carefully chosen base - either a tinted moisturiser or a silk foundation. Asian skin needs more yellow tones than pink ones and getting it wrong can lead to a clownish appearance. Terrible! So I try to get that right first and foremost. Then a dab of Natio Cream Blush Stick on the cheeks, an easy eyeliner that can handle the day's smudging - because sometimes a whole day goes by and the only time I check the mirror is on the drive home”.

After hours style? “On a special occasion I like to celebrate the healthy thickness of my hair by letting it out and getting it shiny with some Moroccan Oil, a quick blow-dry and getting the unruly fringe into line with GHD straighteners. I brighten my eyes with a liquid eyeliner, and tone down the lips with a nude lip and keep the skin dewy with a crème blush”.

Beauty muse/icon? “Rihanna always looks fierce and sexy”.

What are your top 3 winter beauty tips?
1. Keep protecting your skin from the sun no matter what the weather.
2. Use Invite E Pure Oil to soothe your skin after a particularly battering day (day in the snow, squinting a lot, long flight, etc.) and take the time to massage it in with clean hands in a restful environment.
3. Don't forget to eat raw, green vegetables. In winter we tend to want everything cooked and hot but your skin glows when you eat crunchy good food!
