Ever wondered how prevalent street harassment really is? American woman Shoshana recently found out. She spent 10 hours walking across New York recently, and during that time experienced more than 100 episodes of street harassment – from cat-calling to inappropriate or offensive comments and wolf whistling, from men that she encountered. One even started following her, walking beside her for over five minutes after she refused to talk to him.

Sound scary? Shoshana’s experiences are not unique, and in fact were filmed in collaboration with international non-profit Hollaback < http://www.ihollaback.org/> and filmmaker Rob Bliss. The short video clip aimed - and succeeded - in showing what it’s like to be on the receiving end of street harassment in New York.

The film, which runs for just under two minutes, will shock you, as more than 100 men approach Shoshana as she walks. “God bless you,” one man says to her. “Somebody’s acknowledging you for being beautiful,” another says, “You should say thank you more.”
