One of the biggest takeaways from Bruce Jenner’s intimate, tell-all interview with Diane Sawyer on his gender transition was his heartbreaking admission that he dreamt of wearing nail polish.
When asked what he was looking forward to most about appearing publically and officially as a woman, Jenner replied “[To] be able to have my nail polish on long enough that it actually chips off.”
It was a simple sentiment, but it spoke volumes about Jenner – who says he now identifies as a woman – and his struggles as he transitions into womanhood.
Australian men have taken Jenner’s message to heart, starting a viral social media movement under the hashtag #paintyournailsforbruce.
It all began at radio station KIIS 1065 on the Kyle and Jackie O show, with Kyle Sandilands himself painting his nails a fetching glittery shade and sharing a snap on Instagram. The movement has since been picked up by men and women around the country, who are taking to social media to share their manicured nails in solidarity with Jenner.
