Amal Alamuddun Is The Most Fascinating Person Of 2014

It's been quite a year for Amal Alamuddin. The human rights lawyer married George Clooney in September, and has been making headlines around the world ever since.

It seems Barbara Walters is also a fan, because she's just named Alamuddin (or should we say, Mrs. Clooney...) the most fascinating person of 2014.

"You could say hers was the wedding of the year, but let's put it into perspective, it was really one of the greatest achievements in human history," Walters said of Amal's marriage to Clooney, who was renowned for his bachelor status up until that point.

"Amazingly, Amal has been the subject of very little snark or envy," Walters continued. "Maybe because we, like George Clooney, find it impossible to resist perfection. Or maybe because it is heartening to think that no matter how long it may take, the perfect someone is out there for everyone."

Also on Walters's list was Taylor Swift, Scarlett Johansson, Oprah Winfrey, Neil Patrick Harris, NFL star-turned-daytime host Michael Strahan, and political activist David H. Koch.
