Cameron Diaz On Why She Married Benji Madden So Quickly

It might have been a very short engagement, but Cameron Diaz reportedly had kids on her mind when she said yes to marrying Benji Madden.

The 42-year old actress apparently told Madden, 35, that she was keen to have kids right away - leading him to suggest they marry sooner rather than later.

"She told Benji she really wants a baby," reported E! News. "And he said, 'Well, marry me.' He's old-fashioned ... Marriage was important to him."

Last year, Cameron was quoted as saying that when the right time came along, she would have kids.

"If I wanted kids, at any point in life, I would have them. But I'm certain that if at any point I wanted a child, that child would find its way into my life, whether through adoption, or through being in a relationship with somebody who has a child.

"I can't see the future, but one thing I do know is that I'm not childless. I have a ton of children in my life. I can have a kid any second, if I want. All my friends would be like, 'Sure, come and get them.' "

As to why Diaz waited until age 42 to get married, the choice was simple: she didn't want to settle.

"I waited because I didn't want to settle. Now I got the best man ever. My special man. He's mine," Diaz said during her wedding speech.
