Watch What Happens When 20 Strangers Kiss For The First Time

If you were glued to social media overnight, you would have seen the now infamous ‘First Kiss’ video that went viral.

While it’s since been revealed as a marketing ploy for clothing brand Wren, it is a pretty amazing film to watch: it’s both wonderful and awkward at the same time, displaying the many facets of humanity.

Shot by Los Angeles director Tatia Pilieva, the premise of the film is that 20 strangers are asked to kiss for the first time on camera.

After being introduced to each other, the participants are faced with the daunting task of locking lips with a complete stranger under a harsh spotlight.

“What’s your name again? It’s nice to meet you,” most of them start off awkwardly, with one girl asking after a deafening silence, “do we just do this anytime?”

Another jokes about turning the lights off, while one guy says he will follow the lead of his partner.

It’s interesting to view the results: some go for a light peck, while we suspect others might have started dating soon after the shoot.

Regardless of the outcome though, it’s an intimate look at the way we interact as humans and a reminder that perhaps we’re not as removed from each other as society might have us think.

“I had no idea it was going to be so huge," said Wren designer and founder Melissa Coker. "I mean we had an idea it could go viral — when I looked at it I knew it was something really special and everyone who saw it really responded to it. But when I looked at it this morning it was at 1.7 million views...now it’s at more than 6 million!”
