Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 Trends
While the Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2011 collection took us back to the 70s, this season's range portrayed a decidedly more grown up image.
Described as "a mad mix of futuristic 40s", the collection encompasses tight pencil skirts, ladylike berets and high necklines. Jacobs ditched the fluidity of last season in favour of a sleek, nipped-in silhouette.
So why the change? "I thought about all the things I've done in the past, and perennially loved," Jacobs said, explaining that he had "pilfered" from past collections to create an entirely new one. "I just want to have fun," he said.

Key trends
Polka dots: They came in all different shapes and sizes, appearing on skirts, tops and sweaters – a trend reminiscent of Marc Jacob's very first New York collection.
Berets: This must-have fall accessory was a stand-out on the Marc Jacobs catwalk.
Lace: Inserts of lace added a ladylike quality to the collection.
