Kate Upton Appears In Victoria's Secret Campaign

Kate Upton may be all smiles inside the latest Victoria's Secret catalogue, but just months ago she was shrugging off criticism from the company's head model booker.

The 20-year old has been a regular on the cover of high-profile fashion magazines the world over since she first shot to fame just three years ago, but was labelled "too obvious" by the brand, who went on to say she would never be booked to walk the runway for them.

"She’s like a page three girl," said Victoria's Secret model booker Sophia Neophitou last year. "She’s like a footballer’s wife, with the too-blond hair and the kind of face that anyone with enough money can go out and buy."

It seems Victoria's Secret has since done a 180 on the comments however, because Upton appears in the brand's latest catalogue campaign sporting a black bra.

But, as Amy O'Dell explains, Upton's presence in the catalogue doesn't necessarily mean we'll see her strutting her stuff alongside Miranda Kerr, Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima in the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2012 at the end of the year.

"Casting for the catalogue and fashion show are seen as two very different things to the fashion community," O'Dell said. "There’s a lot of cross-over but it’s not a fully symbiotic relationship."

Considering that Upton also reportedly modeled pyjamas for the brand back in 2011, it seems doubtful the model will hit the Victoria's Secret runway anytime soon.
