Florence Welch Named The New Face Of Gucci

Singer Florence Welch has been appointed the new face of Gucci.

Welch was a permanent fixture at this year's Paris Fashion Week, and is known for her unique vintage style.

"I've always been interested in clothes," said Welch. "I became friends with my best friend at school because we wanted to dress up and go to burlesque nights and places where we could wear the most outrageous clothes ever."

Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini describes the Florence and The Machine singer as "captivating" and says her powerful personality was one of the reasons the Welch was chosen to represent the label.

"As I was imagining this collection I was thinking of a strong and somewhat mysterious muse," explained Giannini. "Florence is that kind of woman. She has a powerful personality and an entrancing quality to her performances. She also has that confident and self-assured look that goes hand in hand with the Gucci woman."

Giannini, who first met Welch at the 2011 Grammy Awards, reportedly designed the entire autumn-winter Gucci range with the singer in mind.
