Ladies and gentlemen, prepare yourselves. Balmain – the designer brand beloved of the Kardashian sisters, not the inner west Sydney suburb beloved of yummy mummies – is coming to H&M.

The brand’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, 29, let the cat out of the bag when he arrived on the red carpet at today’s Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. Walking arm-in-arm with supermodels-of-the-moment Kendall Jenner and Jourdan Dunn, Rousteing responded to questions about what his female companions were wearing with three little words. “Balmain. For. H&M.”

Kendall’s bead-encrusted tuxedo dress and Jourdan’s gold-embellished leotard (and ruby red draped skirt) are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this design partnership.

Rousteing’s Balmain for H&M collection will include men’s and women’s wear, shoes and accessories, scheduled for launch worldwide on November 5, across both online and bricks and mortar stores. Rousteing will be the 11th designer to collaborate with H&M, joining an elite group that now includes Stella McCartney, Karl Lagerfeld and Alexander Wang. It’s a telling move by H&M, revealing just how highly the fashion industry regards this fun-loving designer and his party-ready threads (not to mention his 1.1 million followers on Instagram, who await his every intimate selfie with BFFs Kim Kardashian and Kanye West).

Speaking to Style.com, Rousteing revealed that he hopes the collaboration will expose the French fashion house to a whole new customer.

“Sometimes we feel like Balmain is not real, it’s kind of unreal. I feel with H&M, I’m goin to have the chance to actually see more people wearing my clothes, and my vision more in the street.”
