The High Street Stores Opening In Australia This Year

Updated: H&M has announced plans to open a 2,400 square metre shop at Indooroopilly Shopping Centre in Queensland. The opening date is March 5.

You can now add Zara Home to the list! The brand will open in suburban Melbourne at Highpoint Shopping Centre on February 12, with a flagship store to follow in Sydney.

In 2014, we were spoilt for choice with international chainstores arriving in Australia.

Sephora, H&M, Uniqlo and more finally made an appearance on our doorstep - and we couldn't have been happier.

This year, retail interest in Australia is reportedly set to hit a new high, with international retailers now eyeing our shores as prime real estate.

"With a weakening Australian dollar and ever-increasing competitive pressures, we expect to see further interest by overseas retailers in the Australian retail market," Deloitte Australia partner David White said .

"The ability to innovate, drive improved processes and to connect with the consumer will be critical in order to remain competitive."

While we can neither confirm or deny the following, rumours abound that Marks & Spencer will finally set up shop in Australia this year, followed by US-based Ashley Furniture, and Germany's Schwarz Unternehmens Treuhand KG.

We can also expect to see luxury store Harrold's, which stocks labels including Balenciaga, Saint Laurent Paris, Balenciaga and Tom Ford, set up its first womenswear flagship.

According to a report released by Deloittes, just 37 of the world's top 250 retailers currently reside in Australia - leaving us wide open to plenty more international expansion.
