Walking in the Paris couture shows is something most models can only dream of. Seen as the pinnacle of the fashion game, only a handful can boast a catwalk spot next to the likes of Cara Delevingne and Kendall Jenner.

But for Sydney-based Grace Simmons, that dream became a reality yesterday after she made her catwalk debut for Christian Dior while Jennifer Lawrence and Emma Watson sat front row.

The 17-year old model was handpicked by the French fashion house to walk the runway, with her fiery red hair and green eyes giving her an edge over the competition.

"Walking in the Dior Haute Couture show was an absolute dream come true," Simmons was quoted as saying.

"I'd come to Paris with the intention of merely experiencing Haute Couture Week and learning all that I could, so to be cast in one of the biggest and most prestigious shows of the week is something I'll never forget."

Simmons first shot to fame in 2012 after winning the annual Girlfriend magazine model search contest, and has been on a roll ever since.

She's now signed to the prestigious Next Model Management in New York, Paris, London and Milan as well as Bravo Models in Japan.

Her mother, Adrienne Simmons, said the family was still reeling from her daughter's success.

"We are all very excited," Mrs Simmons said.

"They rarely take unknown girls at haute couture fashion week, so it is just amazing."

Simmons said her daughter's journey had been "an amazing whirlwind," that had culminated in the trip to Paris.

"She finished grade 12 and achieved an OP of 3 then she decided to go modeling," Simmons explained. "She spent eight weeks in Tokyo where she did a number of magazines and walked for Valentino.

"Now it's Christian Dior at haute couture fashion week. It is just amazing."

Considering she's following in the footsteps of Miranda Kerr, who first shot to fame after winning the Dolly magazine model contest, it looks like big things might be on the cards for this young beauty.
