Linda Rodin On Ageing In The Modeling Industry

Considering we watched them grow up on Full House, it’s safe to say that the Olsen twins were once synonymous with youth.

But since taking the celebrity world by storm with their sophisticated clothing line, The Row, the twins have made significant strides in the fashion industry.

Their latest collection, modeled by 65-year old Linda Rodin, is perhaps a nod to the timelessness of their aesthetic.

For Rodin, the opportunity to model for the Olsen twins wasn’t one she was going to let pass by.

"I knew they respected me and they knew I wasn't going to show up... young," Rodin commented. "I think that was what was so interesting: If those two girls find this amazing, when they're on the cutting edge of everything, there must be something to it."

While Rodin is no stranger to modeling, having forged a successful career in the 1960s, it wasn’t until J.Crew offered her a campaign in 2012 that she felt comfortable enough to step back in front of the camera.

"I always feel like they're using me as not just a model, but someone with something going on," Rodin said of the brand. "I'm not just an old lady who they think looks cute in clothes."

Rodin was also happy to note the lack of re-touching on her shots, explaining that she thinks the whole culture is ridiculous.

“They retouch 20-year-olds," she explained. "I work with them, and I see the pictures, and I know that they've retouched this and that and that and this. I just go, 'She doesn't even have any wrinkles!'"

Aside from her penchant for style, Rodin is also adamant that she’ll never succumb to any type of plastic surgery. "Aren't we curious to see how we'd grow up?" she asked. Touché.
