They will appear alongside previously announced cast members Rhys Ifans and Anna Maxwell Martin.
The show was originally announced in April 2024. As previously reported, the series will tell the story the alternative history of the space race like “For All Mankind,” but this time from the Soviet Union perspective.
The official description for the show says it is “a propulsive, paranoid thriller that takes us back to the key moment in the alt-history retelling of the space race – when the Soviet Union became the first nation to put a man on the moon. But this time, we explore the story from behind the Iron Curtain, showing the lives of the cosmonauts, the engineers, and the intelligence officers embedded among them in the Soviet space program, and the risks they all took to propel humanity forward.”
McLeod will star as Sasha, said to be “a reckless cosmonaut who has yet to live up to his potential.” O’Casey will play Irina, described as “a recent addition to the surveillance department at Star City.” Englert will appear as Anastasia, “an untested female cosmonaut in the Soviet Space.”
McLeod is repped by The Artists Partnership, CAA, The Unseen, and Bespoke Publicity. O’Casey is repped by Susannah Norris Agency, Curtis Brown, and Goodman Genow. Englert is repped by CAA, Hamilton Hodell, and United Management.
“Star City” hails from “For All Mankind” creators Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi. Wolpert and Nedivi serve as showrunners and executive producers. Moore executive produces under his Tall Ship Productions banner along with Maril Davis. Steve Oster and Andrew Chambliss are also executive producers. Sony Pictures Television is the studio.
