Man spends an entire month proposing to girlfriend without her knowing
In the post-Instagram age, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to think up original ways to pop the big question, with sunset beaches and candlelit dinners no longer making the cut for some.
So that’s why one groom-to-be decided to dedicate an entire month to proposing to his girlfriend.
Edi Okoro, from England, purchased a diamond ring for his other half, Cally Read, earlier this year but didn’t want to rush the process.
Instead, he took photographs of his girlfriend in various locations with the ring squeezed into every shot without her knowledge - from selfies on days out, to her asleep with the ring in her hand.
Eric took to Facebook to share the hilarious photographs in a post titled ‘How I proposed to Cally’, which has since gone viral.
“Those who have gone through this (and those who will soon find out) you want to propose in a way that speaks to you as a person and couple,” he captioned the post.
“Some plan a flash mob, a fancy meal or even arrange a ‘marry me’ sign. I couldn’t do this because ‘Edi doesn’t plan’... I’m a spontaneous improviser!”
The 30-year-old then went on to explain he was worried his girlfriend would predict the proposal if he planned a holiday or romantic meal.
After a month of waiting for the right moment (with the ring in his pocket), Eric decided to document all of the opportunities.
“The idea was to take as many photos, in more daring scenarios, until I found the perfect moment to propose,” he explained. “Or until I got caught, at which point I would propose!”
The results of the one-month proposal are admittedly hilarious.
One photograph shows the ring neatly placed on her jewellery dish without her noticing, while another shows his girlfriend scrolling through her phone with the ring balancing on her back.
Social media users were impressed with his dedication and rushed to congratulate his proposal idea.
“This man is a genius,” one commented.
Another agreed, writing: “This is epic!”
But the post left Facebook users pretty invested in the actual proposal with a number desperate to find out how he eventually ended up popping the question.
Unfortunately, we’ll have to hold tight as he teased that it’s a “story in its own right”.
Fingers crossed all will be revealed soon.
