Married at First Sight star Cyrell Paule has hit back at critics who slammed her and boyfriend Eden Dally’s ‘cringe’ reaction to their baby’s gender reveal.

The criticism followed the couple’s party on Sunday afternoon where they, along with friends and family, discovered their unborn child was a baby boy.

A clip of the moment shows both mum and dad-to-be reacting excitedly, before labelling their little one 'another little Eden' due to his sex.

Baby backlash

But the crowd’s applause wasn’t enough for some followers who were quick to call out a subdued photo of couple taken during the party.

“They look thrilled,” quipped one sarcastic commenter, with another calling the pair “miserable looking”.

The unsolicited commentary was enough for Cyrell to clap back and explain her and Eden’s reason for their near expressionless pose.

“Everyone having a go because we didn’t have a BIIIG smile in our pic automatically means we aren’t thrilled about our baby,” she wrote.

“We haven’t brushed our teeth. That’s why.”

Getting near

Ahead of their gender reveal both Cyrell and Eden have expressed excitement about becoming parents, despite still being in the early stages of their relationship.

"I haven't even met you, and already I'm sooo in love with you," the mum-to-be wrote to her unborn child on Instagram last week.

“I’m nervous and excited at the same time and feel so blessed,” Eden previously revealed were his thoughts towards becoming a dad.

When Cyrell initially broke the news to Eden via text, the soon-to-be-dad admitted he was “shocked” but “excited”.

“I can’t wait to have this little baby,” he told New Idea at the time of the announcement, adding he thinks he’ll “be a great dad”.

Cyrell “can’t even comprehend” what Eden will be like as a father but thinks she’ll be “crazy!”
